[both of these poem are a portion of writings from Sahej’s somatic writing workshop this morning.]
aging acorn
the poet is alive
not gone away
but i went away
from him.
it was always in shavasana,
with my bone marrow,
every moment
i was not in the poetic spirit.
but like the acorn i found
that day
in the rain,
it’s always on the shelf
of my bedside table
waiting for me
to
see
it.

Elevate!
Are we ALL in the bottom of the well?
The well is indeed
the inverse of the sky,
condensed and compact.
Our perception is so small
because we think the sky is merely that small light or dusk or dark
circle,
but we know we can move past that,
even if it isn’t obvious how.
The path is more smooth and slick
than the bumpiness i fear,
ironically, just like the sides of the well aren’t frictionless, or without
toe holds,
and other living and dead people with calibration and wisdom to share.
We can choose to stay or climb,
with the possibility of seeing an
infinitely expanding/ed sky.
Either way, we choose,
even if we choose nothing.

[Elevate! is an exciting poem, because in every moment of writing, i was thinking about a poem i wrote in October 1990, called fiat.Lux. Go read it. It’s only 22 pages long, but it’s a fast read. I promise!]
